If you’re anything like me, ice cream is a year round staple in your home. Ice cream may be my favorite food overall, but with a sweet tooth as bad as mine, it’s really a hard to settle on just one favorite. What I love about this Mason Jar Vanilla Ice Cream recipe is that it’s super simple to make and tastes delicious- just like ice cream should!
With only 3 ingredients and a little muscle power (consider it your workout for the day) you can have deliciously creamy homemade ice cream in only 4 hours! Yippee! No fancy equipment or strange ingredients needed. Hope you have fun making this recipe and enjoy it as much as I do!
Mason Jar Vanilla Ice Cream
by Maci M. | Lovely Baking Co.
Ingredients:
1 pint (16 oz.) heavy whipping cream
7 Tbsp sugar
1 Tbsp vanilla extract
Step 1:
Add all ingredients into a 32 oz. wide mouth mason jar (or 2-3 smaller wide mouth mason jars); put on the lid and shake well for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Once shaken, place in the freezer for 15 minutes.
Step 2:
After the ice cream mixture has been in the freezer for 15 minutes, shake again for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Place back in the freezer and repeat this step several more times. (The ingredients will grow in size and become creamier while they freeze.)
Step 3:
Freeze ice cream for 4 hours or until completely frozen. Dig in & enjoy!
*Tips:
Ice cream will stay very creamy for the first couple days (if you can make it last that long!) but will harden more the longer it’s in the freezer. If it becomes hard to scoop, let sit on the counter to soften for a few minutes prior to scooping.
Feel free to play around with different flavor extracts or add your favorite toppings like hot fudge or sprinkles!
